Signature Symphony & Signature Chorale
Mar. 27, 2010 8:00pm
Our final concert will showcase the Signature Symphony in two works that re major milestone compositions in their catagories. The Poulenc Gloria, by one of the most revered 20th Century French composers, features choral writing that stands out as some of the most glorious ever achieved. It will be performed by the Signature Chorale and a guest soloist. Also on thie concert is Mahler's magnificent Symphony No. 1 in D major (the Titan), considered to be the pinnacle work in 300 years of symphonists. Mahler's most performed and accessible work is based on familiar melodies like Frere Jacques or a Beethoven motive--his handling of these huge musical forces is one-of-a-kind and wonderfully stirring.
