hot topic people poll:
Did the right contestant win “American Idol?” A national study conducted among 3,901 “Idol” viewers revealed that the contestant who was selected as the winner of the ninth season of the competition did not accurately reflect the viewers’ choice. HCD Research used its www.mediacurves.com Web site to obtain “American Idol” viewers’ perceptions of which contestant should be chosen as the winner. HCD conducted a series of studies using the “one person, one vote” methodology. While Lee DeWyze won the contest, the Idol Democracy study showed DeWyze received 33.8% of the votes, while Crystal Bowersox received 66.2% of the votes. Should “Idol” use the “one person, one vote” method or continue allowing viewers to cast more than one vote?

Bret Michaels Didn’t Tell Docs About ‘Idol’ Appearance
Bret Michaels performed on the season finale of “American Idol,” but he didn’t tell his doctors about the gig. The Poison frontman, who has had a series of serious health issues recently, shared the mic with “Idol” contestant Casey James, singing “Every Rose Has Its Thorn.” “I didn’t tell (my doctors) I was going to do this,” Bret told MTV backstage. “But I feel great, I gotta be honest. There’s still a lot of pain I’m still experiencing. (But) except for a little hitch (on) my left side from the ... stroke, I feel amazing.” Michaels, who just won “Celebrity Apprentice,” plans to have heart surgery this fall after he takes care of some of his other health issues. He’s been undergoing treatment for a brain hemorrhage he suffered in April, which followed an emergency appendectomy. Last week, Michaels was hospitalized again for what was classified as a warning stroke. While undergoing tests, he learned he had a hole in his heart. Doctors said he will be treated for his various health issues on an outpatient basis.
