It’s Sleep Awareness Week. If waking up is hard to do, check out these new gadgets I found out about on www.vitaljuice.com:
1. The Philips Wake-Up Light is an alarm clock that simulates sunrise with gradual light and soft nature sounds (rooster not included)! You’ll wake up gently from a light sleep and the gradual light is supposed to increase serotonin, the brain chemical that boosts. It costs about $170.
2. If you’ve got an iPhone, check out the Sleep Cycle app. It uses your iPhone’s accelerometer to keep track of your sleep patterns. The accelerometer is the thing that helps the iPhone detect and respond to motion. Just put the phone under your bottom sheet and the app is supposed to know when you’re in your lightest sleep phase within a 30-minute window of your alarm’s wake-up time. It’ll wake you up at the best time, and it only costs 99-cents!
I don’t know if either of these will do you any good, but it sure beats the blaring BEEP, BEEP, BEEP of an old-fashioned alarm clock.
